Please call Hoa Sen Dojo in advance when possible to let us know you would like to attend.
WOMEN'S BLACK BELT CLUB

ANNUAL PICNIC
Hoa Sen Dojo's annual picnic took place in early October 2007 at Cordornices Park in Berkeley. Good food and a fun time was shared by all!
2008 ANNUAL HOA SEN TOURNAMENT
The Dojo's Fifth Annual Tournament is slated for Saturday, December 13, and will feature competitions for younger children (ages 4 and up) as well as older youth and adults. The younger children competed in the categories of kata and strength and agility. Youth and adult categories included kata, sparring and weapons.

SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS (Ages 4-6 and 7-14)
FUN is the name of the game! Hoa Sen Dojo offers summer camp programs for two separate age groups. Whether you’re trying a martial art for the first time, or working on advancement in your style, there will be something for everyone.
Younger kids will spend mornings for one full week learning about safety, yoga, aerobic fitness and the mind-body connection while playing lots of games to teach coordination and direction. Obstacle courses, running games and art projects. Classes will be geared to serve the younger budding martial artist.
Camp for older kids—split into two one-week sessions—will include karate, judo and aikido techniques as well as yoga, aerobic fitness and self defense. Swim for an hour daily and enjoy a field trip each week, related arts and crafts and play time at a local park. The camp is open to all styles, first timers and seasoned martial artists. Our convenient location on San Pablo in Emeryville makes us accessible from all major highways and local thoroughfares.

Becoming the Lotus
Emerging from the depths of a muddy swamp, the pure white lotus flower symbolizes enlightenment and rebirth. Playing a prominent role in creation stories in ancient Egypt and India, the flower is an apt choice for a school which emphasizes personal growth through learning martial movement.
From the darkest depth comes the purest of blooms, the only plant to fruit and flower simultaneously. The lotus is a metaphor for the self-actualization made possible through study and discipline. This is the mission at Hoa Sen Dojo.
